Community Training Programmes

Community Health and Engagement Students:

The first cohort of Community and Health Engagement students are just nearing the end of the course. With the frantic collation of their coursework and making final checks on their local area guides they are ready to face the world of work and equipped to help people be in the best health they can.
The women will be able to give out information on local health care provisions in their area and have an understanding of the NHS in general. It’s not only knowledge and information that the participants get from the course; it’s also a sense of confidence.
The whole first module is about understanding learning style and challenging yourself. Even if you have never publicly spoken, by the end of the course you will be speaking in front of a room full of people, or even speaking at an event.

Do you like a challenge? Would you like to follow in their footsteps? From learning all about Foetal Alcohol Syndrome to creating tasty recipes that follow the EatWell Plate and the cooking it up for friends and family. There are loads of fun things to do and great people to meet.

So what are the course participants moving on to? A specialist Traveller Citizens Advice Service has been set up by a graduate. Some are working for housing associations and others are taking on further training. People have spoken at and attended conferences and workshops on behalf of ITMB and many have worked in promoting the Maternity and Irish Travellers DVD they were involved in producing.

All the women are trained in providing training – some will be gaining their PTLLS qualification this summer – and we can provide training for statutory services or indeed any service providers.

There is a database being set up of all trained community members across the whole country, so it doesn’t matter where you are?
