Issue 8:  April 2012:  The Wheels in Motion ITMB Newsletter

As we draw closer to the summer season and leave behind the winter blues we are all hoping here at ITMB for a bright and productive season ahead.
GRTHM is just around the corner. Kelly O’Driscoll, one of our marvellous Community Interns is leading and organising our ITMB events this year. Read more about Kelly’s plans inside. (see the Community Corner, Page 14)
The last few months have been a total Media onslaught on the Gypsy Roma and Traveller communities, yet again. We, like so many of you, were totally offended by Channel 4 Bigger Fatter Gypsier Billboard displays in particular. Many of our members complained bitterly and requested that we lodged complaints with C4, the sponsor Honda and the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA). This we diligently did. Disappointing, but not a surprise, all complaints were rejected. We do not intend to take this rejection lying down and have lodged an appeal. Staying with the subject of Media, we have also submitted two submissions to the Leveson Inquiry. We are currently pushing for an oral hearing. You can read more about this work inside and read the full submissions on our website. (see the Policy Corner, Page 5)

We will hear a bit more about these cuts, and the impact they are having, from ITMB Trustee and ACERT chairman Brian Foster.
